He refuted claims made during the parliamentary debate that the bill might breach international treaties such as the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the International Covenant on Civic and Political Rights, and the Convention on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women.
According to Ahiafor, the bill, if enacted, would not violate Article 108 of Ghana’s 1992 constitution and would not contravene any provisions in international treaties or conventions.
