Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the presidential candidate of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), has distanced himself from any involvement in corruption or corruption-related cases. He has pledged to combat corruption if elected in the 2024 general elections, emphasizing his integrity in managing the country’s finances.
In the face of heavy criticism against the current government for defending officials allegedly implicated in corruption, Dr. Bawumia asserted that he is not a corrupt individual. The government’s Office of Special Prosecutor (OSP) has also faced scrutiny for not meeting expectations in its anti-corruption efforts.
During a vision address at the auditorium of the UPSA on Wednesday, the NPP presidential candidate stated, “If it is someone with personal integrity who is not corrupt and can be trusted to fight corruption, then your choice, clearly, is Dr. Bawumia.”
He called on the electorate to place their trust in him, assuring that he would work diligently and selflessly for the country. Dr. Bawumia expressed his dedication to safeguarding the nation’s natural resources for the benefit of all citizens, saying, “If you are looking for the man who is more committed to protecting and using our natural resources for the benefit of Ghanaians, it is Dr. Bawumia.”
