Richie Mensah, CEO of Lynx Entertainment, has revealed that the challenges facing Ghana’s entertainment industry are taking a serious toll on him, leaving him with very little sleep. “I sleep just one hour a day because of this industry,” the acclaimed music producer confessed during an appearance on Metro TV
This candid admission underscores the overwhelming workload and pressures that industry professionals often face. Richie elaborated on the difficulties, explaining that the lack of proper structures, collaborations, and standard practices forces individuals to juggle multiple roles, leading to burnout.
“In our industry, you’re the producer, distributor, marketer, and retailer—everything. There’s no established structure, so it becomes incredibly difficult,” he noted.
Richie emphasized that individual talent alone isn’t sufficient for success in the industry, highlighting the need for a more supportive ecosystem. “What we see in our industry is individual brilliance,” he said. “Anyone you see doing well is succeeding on their own, standing out. It’s not an industry where everything is automated.”
He further added, “Without a comprehensive ecosystem where you can just bring your talent and thrive, it’s nearly impossible to succeed.”
