Chief Justice of Ghana, Judge Gertrude Torkornoo, along with other judges from the Judicial Services, has contributed GH¢125,000 to aid the flood victims in the Volta Region, caused by the overflowing of the Akosombo and Kpong Dams. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Member of Parliament for North Tongu, made the announcement of this generous donation on social media. The funds were raised in response to the Chief Justice’s call for judges and judicial service employees to support the flood victims.

In his social media post, Ablakwa commended the Chief Justice, Her Ladyship Gertrude Araba Esaaba Sackey Torkornoo, distinguished judges, and the entire Judicial Service of Ghana for their kindness and generosity. He revealed that the Chief Justice initiated the compassionate mobilization of personal contributions, including her own financial support, totaling an impressive GH¢125,000.00. This announcement was made at a ceremony in her office.

Ablakwa further explained that the GH¢125,000 would be used to provide specific building materials for the second Safe Alternative Housing Project in Mepe and to construct an automated well.

Expressing his gratitude, the MP from North Tongu thanked Justice Torkornoo and the legal staff for their thoughtful and impactful contribution to the relief efforts for the flood victims.
