Kudus Express Desire to Exit the Club

According to reports from the British tabloid The Athletic, Mohammed Kudus, the talented Ghanaian playmaker for Ajax Amsterdam, has expressed his desire to leave the club during the summer transfer window. The 22-year-old midfielder has attracted the attention of Arsenal, Manchester United, and Liverpool, who are reportedly monitoring his situation. Kudus declined a one-year contract extension, indicating his intention to pursue opportunities elsewhere next season. The Athletic states, “Kudus is currently under contract with Ajax at the Johan Cruyff Arena until 2025, but he rejected a one-year extension in April and has informed the club of his plan to leave once the transfer window opens on June 10.”

It is speculated that securing Kudus’s services will require a transfer fee of approximately £40 million ($49.8 million), although this figure may be influenced by the specific clubs involved. While Arsenal, Manchester United, and Newcastle United are among the teams interested in Kudus, there may be other priority targets ahead of him on their respective transfer lists. These clubs highly regarded and admired the young midfielder.

This season has been fruitful for Kudus in terms of goal contributions, as he has scored 18 goals and assisted in all competitions at the club level. He also scored twice and provided one assist for Ghana during the Qatar 2022 World Cup, despite the team’s premature exit in the group stage.

Kudus came close to joining Everton in the Premier League last summer, but Ajax prevented the move from materializing. Whether he will stay with Ajax for the remaining two years of his contract or move on remains unclear.
