Edwin Kusi-Appiah, the attorney representing former Black Stars player Asamoah Gyan, has refuted the widespread reports claiming that his client has been court-ordered to provide compensation to his ex-wife, Gifty Gyan.
Kusi-Appiah dismissed the unfounded allegations that Mr. Gyan was directed to transfer ownership of a petrol station, two cars, a residence in London, and other assets to his estranged partner.
On October 31, 2023, social media was abuzz with rumors that Gyan had been mandated by the court to provide Gifty with a monthly stipend of GHC25,000 to support their three children. These reports suggested that the court had determined that the three children belonged to Asamoah Gyan.
However, Kusi-Appiah confirmed that Gifty already held ownership of the mentioned properties and clarified that Gyan had emerged victorious in the legal dispute.
He revealed that his client had filed for an annulment upon discovering that Gifty had been previously married before their own marriage, rendering their union null and void.
Kusi-Appiah refrained from commenting on the alleged monthly stipend.
