The Deputy Managing Director of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), Ing. Kwadwo Obeng, has rejected calls for a load-shedding timetable.
On Thursday, June 13, ECG and GRIDCo announced a three-week power outage due to a gas supply shortage from Nigeria. This announcement has led some business owners to request a load-shedding timetable to help them plan for the outage.
In an interview with Citi New people expressed the need for a timetable to manage their operations effectively.
“I think the situation will impact our businesses significantly. There is nothing we can do except pray for a resolution. Without a generator, if there’s no power, I can’t work. If I can’t work, how do I make a living or solve my problems?” said one business owner.
However, at a public forum on power sector challenges, Ing. Kwadwo Obeng stated that a scheduled timetable might not be reliable due to potential faults and maintenance works.
