Emmanuel Osei Kuffour, a former Ghanaian football player, has urged the management of the Black Stars to move on from Andre Ayew, stating that he believes the player’s prime has passed. To ensure Ghana’s success on the international stage, Kuffour stresses the importance of the technical staff paying attention to the team’s young talent.
Andre Ayew has been a consistent presence in the national team since his victory with the Black Satellites at the 2009 FIFA U20 World Cup. He serves as the captain of the Black Stars. However, Osei Kuffour, who also had a career with Ghana Premier League giants Hearts of Oak, believes Andre Ayew should become a thing of the past for Chris Hughton’s team.
“Andre Ayew is no longer suitable for the Black Stars and should be released to create opportunities for emerging talents like Kudus Mohammed,” stated Kuffour during an Onua FM interview. He said, “Dede Ayew has been part of the Black Stars since 2008, and it’s time for him to step aside. Kudus Mohammed, Kamaldeen Sulemana, and others deserve a chance to showcase their abilities.”
Kuffour added that while Andre Ayew should make way for others, his younger brother Jordan should continue to be part of the team. “Andre Ayew has fulfilled his duties and should make room for others. However, his younger brother Jordan can still contribute, unlike Dede, who has already served the senior national team. Dede needs to step aside and create opportunities for others,” Kuffour continued.
Since his debut, Andre Ayew has scored 24 goals for the Black Stars and has made 113 appearances for the national team.
