The District Chief Executive nominee for Awutu Senya District, Moses Arhinful Acquah, fell short of the required threshold for confirmation in his role.

During the confirmation ceremony, the nominee received 19 Yes votes and 15 No votes from the 35 members present, failing to secure the two-thirds majority needed for endorsement.

President Akufo-Addo’s nominee for the District Chief Executive position in Awutu Senya West District faced rejection by assembly members at the confirmation ceremony. Despite efforts by Central Regional Minister Marigold Assan and other assembly members to persuade them, the nominee’s 19 Yes votes did not meet the required threshold for confirmation.

After the voting process, Member of Parliament for the area, Gizella Tetteh Agbotui, called for cooperation from both sides to ensure effective functioning of the assembly.

The nomination of Moses Acquah by President Akufo-Addo stirred mixed reactions due to concerns about his political allegiance. His rejection is believed to have been influenced by assembly members from his political party, the NPP, citing his history of not aligning consistently with a single political party.
