The Medical and Dental Council has officially welcomed 54 students from Family Health Medical School into the medical profession as qualified Doctors. The induction ceremony, held under the theme “Guiding the Professions, Protecting the Public,” celebrated the achievements of the newly graduated Doctors from the class of 2023.

 

In an interview, Professor Enyonam Yao Kwawukume, Founder of Family Health University College and President of Family Health Medical School, shared the institution’s journey from a Clinic to a hospital and eventually to the establishment of the Medical School. The Medical School now boasts its own hospital, the Family Health Hospital, providing clinical training and skills for students. This milestone makes it the first private medical school in Ghana with an associated hospital. Professor Kwawukume expressed the aspiration to inspire others to establish hospitals, enhancing clinical training sites for students and contributing to the improvement of medical care in Ghana. He emphasized the commitment to allowing students to engage in clinical practices from their first year until completing the medical program.

 

Dr. Charles Fleischer-Djoleto, the Dean of the Medical School, urged the newly inducted Doctors to maintain their passion and uphold respect for patients, colleagues, and Family Health’s reputation. He encouraged them to perform well in their assigned locations and ensure smooth operations.

Mrs. Rita Kaine, the Registrar of Family Health University College, expressed the excitement of the Management and Faculty witnessing the induction of the 54 Medical Students, marking the third batch to enter the medical profession. She highlighted the school’s commitment to training doctors, emphasizing its role in addressing the Doctor-patient ratio in Ghana.

 

The 2023 Course Representative of Family Health Medical School, in an interview, conveyed gratitude to the institution’s management for providing a solid platform for studying medicine. He praised the school for offering exposure to excellent lectures and systems. All 54 students in the class were present at the induction ceremony, marking a 100% representation, according to the Course Representative.

Having spent the past six years at the school, the inductees graduated in September 2023, ready to contribute to the medical profession with the knowledge and practical training acquired at Family Health Medical School.
