Scancom PLC, the company behind MTN Ghana, recently informed its customers via SMS that there would be an increase in Mobile Money withdrawal fees starting from July 1. The new fee structure included a fixed rate of GH₵20 for transactions exceeding GH¢2,000 and a 1% charge for transactions below GH¢2,000. This announcement was met with dissatisfaction from the public.
However, MTN Ghana sent another SMS to its customers on Tuesday, June 27, stating that the planned fee adjustment had been revoked. They apologized for any inconvenience caused and reassured customers that the current cash out fee of 1%, capped at GH₵10, will continue to apply without any additional charges.
