The National Democratic Congress (NDC), the main opposition party in Ghana, has strongly denounced the intrusion of thugs affiliated with the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) into the United Television (UTV) studio. According to the opposition party’s statement, these individuals were allegedly led by the Klottey Korle Youth Organizer of the NPP, acting under the directives of Ernest Owusu Bempah, a Deputy Director of Communications, and other members of the ruling party.

The NDC expressed its strong condemnation of this incident, describing it as a disgraceful act that has no place in a democratic society. They emphasized the importance of maintaining civility and respect for democratic values.

Furthermore, the NDC characterized the attack as a blemish on Ghana’s democracy and highlighted the ongoing erosion of press freedom in the country.

The NDC expressed deep concerns about the growing intolerance of dissenting viewpoints in Ghana under the leadership of President Akufo-Addo, Vice President Bawumia, and the NPP government. They criticized the ruling NPP for its apparent efforts to stifle opposing voices and called it an attempt to establish a culture of silence.

The NDC called for a thorough investigation into the incident and asserted their commitment to closely monitoring the investigative process. They urged the Ghana Police Service to promptly and diligently investigate the matter and ensure that all those responsible are held accountable in accordance with the law.

In conclusion, the NDC stated that they would vigilantly follow developments related to this incident and emphasized their unwavering demand for justice to prevail.
