Gideon Boako, Member of Parliament for Tano North, has launched a comprehensive educational intervention to support 2,200 candidates preparing for the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
The initiative is designed as a structured support system that will guide students from their final examinations through their transition into senior high school, with a focus on both academic success and career development.
As part of the program, Dr. Boako is distributing mathematical sets to all 2,200 candidates across the constituency. As of April 2, distribution had been completed for 700 students in the Duayaw-Nkwanta zone and 368 students in Bomaa.
In addition to learning materials, the initiative includes a Career Guidance and Coaching Forum themed “My Future, My Choice.” The forum brings together professionals such as lawyers, doctors, and bankers to mentor students on career pathways while also cautioning them against examination malpractice.
To further support students transitioning to senior high school, Dr. Boako has pledged to provide full boarding kits for those who gain admission to second-cycle institutions. The packages will include essential items such as a student trunk, school bag, scientific calculator, and exercise books.
The intervention also builds on his existing scholarship efforts, including a Medical School Scholarship Scheme that supports students pursuing professional programs such as medicine, pharmacy, and biomedical engineering.
The program is expected to improve academic performance within the Tano North municipality while easing the financial burden on parents during the transition to senior high school.
The Paramount Queen Mother of Duayaw-Nkwanta, Nana Serwaa Nyarko, has commended the initiative, describing it as a significant and sustained contribution to human resource development in the area.
