The New Patriotic Party (NPP)’s Chairman for the Savannah Region, Alhaji Iddrisu Sulemana, also known as Professor Kalamonia, has made a heartfelt plea to all ten potential flagbearers of the party, urging them not to engage in character assassination during their campaigns.

The party’s Vetting Committee has endorsed all ten candidates, allowing them to participate in the forthcoming Special Electoral College Election.

In a statement, Alhaji Iddrisu Sulemana congratulated the candidates and advised them to uphold the principle of “breaking the ‘8’” while focusing their campaigns on strategies that foster unity within the party after the internal competition.

“I echo the sentiments expressed by numerous well-wishers of the esteemed NPP, calling upon the aspirants to conduct their campaigns with dignity, avoiding insults and offensive language. In the Savannah Region, we remain united and determined to contribute our part towards the party’s historic victory in 2024. Therefore, I urge all aspirants once again to present their messages that will ultimately unite our party behind the victorious candidate, enabling us to achieve a decisive victory in breaking the ‘8’.”

Alhaji Iddrisu Sulemana warmly welcomed all ten flagbearer hopefuls in the Savannah Region and encouraged the delegates to maintain impartiality in their interactions.

“As they embark on their nationwide campaign tours, I extend my greetings to every one of them in our region. I implore them to ensure that their campaigns are conducted with decorum, focusing on strategies that will aid the party in breaking the ‘eight.’ Under my leadership, the party remains united, and we continue to contribute our share towards this objective. I expect the same level of commitment from all aspirants during and after the flagbearer race.”

Alhaji Sulemana emphasized that the NPP undeniably keeps its strength as a formidable force heading into the 2024 general elections. Therefore, he stressed the importance for all ten candidates to draw inspiration from the Holy Quran, specifically Chapter 3, Verse 26, as a solemn reminder after the race.

“Say: ‘O God, Lord of all dominion! You grant dominion to whomever You will, and You take away dominion from whomever You will. You exalt whom You will, and You abase whom You will. In Your hands is all goodness, and You have the power to will anything.’
