The Health Ministry has received a substantial sum of approximately GH¢177 million from Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia to settle outstanding allowances owed to nursing trainees across the country.
Under the leadership of the Akufo-Addo administration, the nursing trainee allowance, previously discontinued during the John Mahama Administration, has been reinstated.
During a gathering in Accra with midwives and nurses, Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia announced that the funds would be disbursed on Thursday.
He stated, “This Thursday, the Controller is transferring GH¢177 million to the Ministry of Health to pay the nursing training allowances. So I have also alerted Dr. Okoe-Boye to be on standby when the money hits the Ministry of Health account, they should move it quickly to the accounts of the nursing trainees so that they will have their allowances. It will drop.”
