Former President John Dramani Mahama expressed his condolences in a tweet confirming the accident and the unfortunate loss of one of their comrades. During his campaign in Assin North, one supporter of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) tragically passed away in a road accident, while several others sustained injuries. Mr. Mahama temporarily suspended his campaign for approximately two hours to visit the injured sympathizers after an engagement at Dansame.
Assin North is preparing for a by-election on June 27 to elect a new Member of Parliament, with the NDC and the NPP actively campaigning in the area.
Before commencing their campaign, the former president and the NDC candidate, Gyakye Quayson, paid a courtesy visit to the Assin Breku Traditional Council.
