The 2023 Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) has successfully placed over 95 per cent of Junior High School (JHS) graduates, marking the highest placement rate to date. Education Minister Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum praised the remarkable outcome, highlighting the increased confidence and interest exhibited by students, parents, and stakeholders in the CSSPS.

Dr. Adutwum, addressing the media after meeting the Ashanti Regional House of Chiefs in Kumasi, emphasized the significant rise in placement from the initial 81 per cent automatic placement three weeks prior. He credited the success to prudent measures implemented by the ministry and aligned agencies, commending all stakeholders for their contributions.

The minister’s visit to the Ashanti Regional House of Chiefs, at their invitation, allowed him to outline the ongoing reforms in the nation’s education sector, particularly in the Ashanti Region. Presided over by Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the meeting provided an opportunity for Dr. Adutwum to explain various policies and interventions driving educational transformation.

“We have new high schools under construction, and science labs are being built in existing schools. WASSCE scores have improved under President Akufo-Addo. There is no doubt that we are seeing major transformation. STEM education has been given a major boost,” stated Dr. Adutwum.

Acknowledging a few challenges encountered, the minister expressed satisfaction with achieving over 95 per cent placement, emphasizing the nation’s progress. He praised parents for their cooperation in adhering to placement processes and pledged continued strategic efforts to enhance the country’s educational landscape.

Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II lauded Dr. Adutwum’s vision and commitment to national transformation through education, pledging the traditional authority’s support to create an enabling environment for improved education in all communities.
