Parliament has requested the presence of Interior Minister Ambrose Dery to provide a comprehensive update to the house on the shooting incident at Sege in the Greater Accra Region, resulting in the tragic death of an individual.
The shooting transpired during a dispute between residents of Ada and the salt mining company Electrochem Ghana at Toflokpo, resulting in one fatality and injuries to several others.
Following a statement by the Member of Parliament for the affected area condemning the incident, First Deputy Speaker of Parliament Joseph Osei Owusu declared that the Interior Minister must appear before the house in the initial week of December. The purpose of the minister’s appearance is to furnish the house with details regarding the incident, including how the violence unfolded, and to clarify whether it was initiated by the police, security forces, or the private company.
Osei Owusu added, “After that briefing, if the Committee of Defence and Interior needs to investigate further, we will provide the appropriate direction.”
