The Minister for Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, announced the government is progressing with its Agenda 111 project. Of the 111 hospitals pledged by the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo administration, 88 are currently being constructed. Mr. Oppong Nkrumah updated during a press conference in the Ashanti Region, stating that most hospitals are on schedule.

“We have 88 hospitals under construction, organized into eight zones with 54 projects. We have visited 33 sites so far, and we believe it is important to showcase the progress from the starting point, Trede,” said Mr. Oppong Nkrumah.

He also shared reports on the visited sites, highlighting the positive progress of most projects and the few behind schedule. Some projects had to be terminated because of delays.

Dr. Anthony Nsiah Asare, the Presidential advisor on health, assured sufficient funding is available to complete the project. He emphasized that the completed hospitals would create job opportunities for nurses and contribute to Ghana’s economic growth.

President Nana Akufo-Addo inaugurated the project on August 17, 2021, committing to completing it within 18 months. However, some districts have faced challenges in acquiring land for construction, leading to doubts about the government’s commitment to the projects.
