Prudential Life Insurance Ghana has officially launched the fourth edition of PruRide Accra, an urban cycling race in Ghana. The event is on September 10, 2023, and is open to the public.
Last Thursday, the Accra Metropolitan Assembly office hosted a ceremony to inaugurate the cycling event. The gathering included members of the Ghana Cycling Federation and prominent cycling clubs in the country.
Dr. Hazel Berrard Amuah, CEO of Prudential Life, expressed anticipation for a larger and improved edition of the race, especially as they commemorate 175 years of enhancing people’s lives.
Registration for PruRide 2023 started on June 22 and will conclude on August 31. The race itself is scheduled for September 10.
Participants in the professional race must possess a UCI license or be affiliated with a cycling club and own a racing bicycle.
The male winner in the professional race will receive GHc15,000, while second, third, and fourth place will be awarded GHc8,000, GHc5,000, and GHc1,000, respectively.
Similarly, the female winner in the professional race will be rewarded with GHc10,000, while second and third place will receive GHc5,000 and GHc3,000, respectively. In the regular adult category, participants will cover a distance of 17.5km, while the kids’ category spans 1.75km.
Besides medals, male and female winners will receive cash prizes of GHc3,000 and GHc2,000, respectively. Medals and cash prizes will be awarded for second and third places in both categories. The youngest cyclist will receive GHc500.
