The Volta River Authority (VRA) has officially concluded the controlled spillage of the Akosombo Dam, as indicated in a release issued on October 30, 2023.
The statement reads: “The Volta River Authority (VRA) wishes to inform the public, particularly residents living along the Lower Volta River and its environs, that the controlled spillage from the Akosombo dam, which began on September 15, 2023, has ended.”
Despite the cessation of the spillage, the VRA expressed its ongoing commitment to relief and rehabilitation efforts until the lives and livelihoods of the affected communities are fully restored. The VRA also extended its gratitude to various government agencies and stakeholders for their support to the impacted communities.
