President Bola Tinubu held a meeting on Tuesday with Mr. Godwin Emefiele, the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), and Mr. Mele Kyari, the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. This meeting marked President Tinubu’s first official assignment following his inauguration as the 16th President of Nigeria at Eagle Square in Abuja.

President Tinubu arrived at the forecourt of the State House around 2:30 pm, entering through the quarter guard gate, which serves as his official entrance. He was warmly received by Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima, the Permanent Secretary of the State House, Tijjani Umar, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, and the outgoing Director of Protocol.

Other notable individuals present to welcome President Tinubu included Governor Godwin Emefiele, Mr. Mele Kyari, and Rt: Hon. James Faleke, a House of Representatives member. After the initial reception, the President proceeded directly to his office accompanied by Emefiele, Kyari, Gbajabiamila, Faleke, and others.

Although the agenda has not been publicly disclosed, Presidents widely criticize it for being related to removing fuel subsidies. It is also expected that topics such as the unification of foreign exchange and the recent redesign of the Naira currency will be discussed.

President Tinubu had previously announced the removal of the subsidy during his inaugural speech, leading to an immediate shutdown of filling stations.
