Vice-President Kamala Harris arrived in Tanzania on her first African tour. The trip aims to strengthen diplomatic ties and promote economic growth and women’s empowerment.
Upon her arrival, Vice President Harris greeted Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan, marking the first meeting between the two leaders since President Hassan was elected earlier this year.
During her visit, Vice President Harris will meet with business leaders and entrepreneurs to discuss opportunities for increased trade and investment between the US and Tanzania. She will hold discussions with women leaders and activists on gender issues, equality, and women’s empowerment.
The US Vice-President will also visit a health center in Dar es Salaam, where she will highlight the importance of access to healthcare, particularly for women and children.
Harris’ visit to Tanzania comes after her stop in neighboring Kenya, where she met with President Uhuru Kenyatta and discussed issues related to regional security, democracy, and the fight against terrorism.
