Following an incident of assault at Adisadel College, where one student attacked another, the victim was recalled to the school after being suspended. Reports show he is currently receiving medical treatment and has been provided with the support of a psychologist to help him recover from the traumatic experience.

The incident came to light through a viral video that showed the brutal assault taking place in a dormitory. Because of the video, all students were suspended because of widespread outrage among parents, students, and the public. The victim and the perpetrator kept the assault a secret from school authorities until June 30.

Besides being sent home, the suspect was expected to take the West African Senior School Certificate Examinations (WASSCE) at a different center administered by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC).

Parents have raised concerns, with one expressing their worries about incidents of discipline and bullying that have reportedly happened at the school before this event. Instances of bullying and physical violence among students have allegedly gone unchecked by the school authorities, including brutal assaults and intimidation by older students against younger ones.

In response to the incident, the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Godfred Dame, an alumnus of Adisadel College, directed the Police in the Central Region to investigate the assault and bring the suspect to court by Friday, July 28. The hope is that this incident will spark necessary actions to address the prevailing atmosphere of lawlessness and impunity in the school and ensure a safer environment for all students.
