The Cyber Security Authority, a newly formed government agency tasked with safeguarding the country’s digital infrastructure, has begun a licensing and accreditation regime for cybersecurity professionals.
In a press release today, the authority stated that the new regime aims to ensure that all individuals and organizations offering cybersecurity services meet a certain standard of expertise and professionalism.
The licensing process will involve a rigorous assessment of an individual’s qualifications, experience, and competence in cybersecurity. Those who meet the criteria will be granted a license to operate as a cybersecurity professional, and their details will be listed on a public register.
Organizations that provide cybersecurity services will also need to undergo an accreditation process to assess their cybersecurity practices and procedures to ensure that they meet the standards. Accredited organizations will display a badge on their website and marketing materials to show their credibility to potential clients.
The Cyber Security Authority has emphasized that the new regime is not intended to be a barrier to entry for cybersecurity professionals but a way to ensure that the industry operates to a high standard and that customers can have confidence in their services.
“We recognize that the cybersecurity industry is constantly evolving, and we want to ensure that our licensing and accreditation regime is flexible and adaptable to these changes,” said the authority’s director. “By working with industry stakeholders, we will continue to develop and refine the regime to ensure that it remains relevant and effective in safeguarding our digital infrastructure.”
