Kennedy Agyapong, a Ghanaian politician, recently claimed a legal victory against undercover journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas. Mr. Agyapong has dedicated his victory to Kwesi Nyantakyi, the former President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
In Ghanaian football, Nyantakyi was once a powerful figure. However, his reputation has been tarnished by a 2018 documentary released by Anas titled “Number 12,” which alleges corruption and bribery. Because of the documentary, Nyantakyi resigned from his post as GFA’s president. Since then, Nyantakyi has largely remained out of the public eye.
It is unclear what Agyapong’s motivations are. However, it is possible that he sees an opportunity to further discredit Anas. Anas has been a thorn in the side of many powerful figures in Ghana. Whatever his reasons, Mr. Agyapong is determined to pursue his vendetta against those he sees as corrupt and dishonest.
