93 Signal Regiment Commemorates Signal Day with Three-Day Anniversary Celebration

93 Signal Regiment

The 93 Signal Regiment of the Ghana Armed Forces commemorated its annual Signal Day with a series of events held in Tamale from April 1 to April 3, 2026.

Signal Day celebrates the heritage and evolution of the Corps of Signals, marking the historic transition on April 1, 1961, from the colonial Gold Coast Signal Squadron to a fully sovereign Ghanaian unit. The occasion reflects the regiment’s enduring role in strengthening military communications since the early years of independence.

The 2026 celebration was held under the theme “Forging Foundations through People: The Key to Technological Advancement,” emphasizing the importance of human collaboration in driving innovation within the military.

Activities began on April 1 with all-ranks games at the Magnolia Event Centre, where officers and enlisted personnel participated in sports and team-building exercises designed to foster unity and camaraderie within the regiment.

As part of its outreach efforts, a delegation led by Lt. Col. Adjei on April 2 presented donations, including mattresses and medical consumables, to the 6 Medical Reception Station (6 MRS). The team also toured the facility and interacted with patients, offering support and encouragement.

The celebration also served as a reminder of the regiment’s 65-year legacy in providing secure and reliable communication systems for the Ghana Army. It highlighted the innovations and progress made since the Corps transitioned to Ghanaian leadership following independence and the departure of British personnel.
