The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has adjusted the schedule for its internal elections, in which a flagbearer will be chosen, and candidates will be nominated for parliamentary seats that the party does not currently hold.

The vetting process for potential presidential aspirants (flagbearers) will now occur from July 3rd to 6th, 2023.

Following the vetting, the committee responsible will submit its report to the National Council through the General Secretary on July 10th.

These timeline changes have been made in response to the Electoral Commission’s recent announcement and the party’s preparations for the Assin North by-election.

According to a press statement released on Monday, June 12th, and issued by the General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, the NPP has announced that the national congress for the Special Electoral College, which will select five candidates to take part in the presidential primary on November 4th, will be held on August 26th.
