The Chief Justice, Her Ladyship Justice Gertrude Sackey Torkornoo, has expressed admiration for the leadership of Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, citing his efforts in rebranding the police and positioning it positively in the eyes of the public.
During a stakeholder meeting between the police and the judiciary in Accra on Wednesday, the Chief Justice remarked that she finds the IGP’s leadership inspirational, commending the noticeable achievements in enhancing the image of the police within a short period. She emphasized that the IGP has demonstrated the potential for the police to be a reliable force that the public can trust, highlighting the positive impact of his leadership in presenting the police for what they should be.
The Chief Justice mentioned plans for collaboration between the judiciary and the police, including the possibility of securing a slot on the Police TV channel to educate Ghanaians on the structure of justice delivery.
In response, the IGP expressed readiness to listen and collaborate with the judiciary to address their security concerns, affirming a commitment to working together on measures that enhance overall effectiveness.
